Tchouki is an accomplished practitioner & also teacher of this ancient Japanese art form known as Sumi-E She is also an acclaimed painter of oils following the Representational school Tchouki is a well known artist, living in Calvia Mallorca (Majorca), Spain. Her water colours of flowers and birds evolved out of her study of Sumi-E Japanese brush painting. Tchouki studied Sumi-E in New York with Koho, one of the most highly respected Japanese painters in the world today. Her other interests include counselling in areas of "addiction" having a diploma from Rusland College A world wide traveller Tchouki has her own individual approach to all her interests Producing quality in all her endeavours "Sumi-E" was originally a monochrome ink painting technique developed in China during the T'ang Dynasty (618-907) and then believed to have been taken to Japan by a Korean Buddhist monk at the beginning of the 7th century and enhanced & developed as Sumi-e Which means the study of ink painting. The above composition is a typical example of the spontaneous brush stroke in which no corrections can be made. |
